Monday, March 26, 2018

Basil is native to tropical regions from central Africa to Southeast Asia. A hardy and easy to grow plant though it can now be found in gardens all over the world.  This popular plaint is just as likely to be found in the medicine cabinet as it is on the kitchen table. The spice so nice they named it twice is also known to apothecaries all over as Saint-Joseph's-wort.

Some of the most popular benefits of Basil are.
  • Head and Neck Tension.
  • Menstrual cramps.
  • Insect repellent.
  • Bug bits or stings.
  • To boost energy.

Basil has historically been used to ease the digestive system and that might explain why it finds its way in to so many recipes.

This easy to grow plant is essential in any home garden. Although basil grows best outdoors, it can be grown indoors in a pot and, like most herbs, will do best on a sun-facing windowsill.

As a matter of fact, Basils bug repelling properties make it an excellent indoor plant. It is also nice to pull fresh herbs from the plant right from our kitchen window to spice up our foods. Remember if you want to use the oils for flavor though a little drop is all you need. One drop could be applied to the skin to help relieve the sting of a bug bite, and is an essential ingredient for any type of irritant ointment.

The emotional benefits of Basil oil is helpful when one is fighting addiction. So if you have a bad habit to break let the uplifting power of Basil give you hope and bring optimism to your tired soul.
