What is eucalyptus

Thursday, July 5, 2018

Ah... Eucalyptus. This is an essential oil I carry in my purse daily.

Eucalyptus oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the Eucalyptus radiata. These tall tree "Gum trees" are native to Australia. The plant might be better known as the favored food of the Koala Bear but for us it is a source of a versatile and valuable oil.

Some of the most popular uses for Eucalyptus oils are:

Deterring pests, promoting easy breathing, relieving occasional ear discomfort, to promote feelings of relaxation.

Eucalyptus is an excellent addition to any skin care product as it is known to revitalize skin and soothe skin irritation. Apply a few drops to the outside of the ear for occasional ear discomfort. It also offers soothing support for menstrual cramps by applying a few drops directly to the abdomen, this is why I carry it in my purse. It offers amazing soothing properties when I am dealing with cramping.

Eucalyptus is definitely a relaxation aid. A few drops in the bottom of the shower is a perfect way to wash away the stress of the day. A few drops in your diffuser could be the mood enhancer you need to take your meditation sessions to the next level, or just to get your emotions in the right place before a hectic day.
